Local 913, Episode 79: Grand Piano

Grand Piano have been a prominent member of the Pittsburgh music base since 2011. The guys in the band have been friends for over a decade and have released several EPs over the course of the group’s existence. Their latest release is a 7 inch featuring two new tracks “ Night In Jail” and “On The Lam.”
“The theme of these two songs is about jail and being a bad guy. We’re really not bad people! We didn’t want it to expand into a whole record about being a jerk, so we decided against it. We wanted to leave a lot of space of the imagination for the listener to put themselves in that scenario where they might be on the run.”
That’s Thomas Cipollone, guitarist for Grand Piano, talking about their two new tracks. The songs were recorded at Treelady Studios in Turtle Creek, PA.
“Our friend, Dave Cerminara, who now lives in Los Angeles, recorded and mixed the songs with us. It was a great time! There was a grand piano in the room, so we put it on one of the songs, which we hadn’t done yet. That was the right time to do it!”
